Theresa May’s ‘Dementia Tax’ will hit 96% of homes in our area
Data published by the Liberal Democrats has revealed that a shocking 98% of homes in Mendip and 94% of homes in Sedgemoor would be hit by May’s so-called 'dementia death tax'.
This policy, published last week in their manifesto means grieving families will be saddled with crippling care costs after losing a loved to certain long-term illnesses.
May’s dementia tax sits in stark contrast to Liberal Democrat calls for a penny on the pound policy, supported by health professionals, which will boost funding for the NHS and social care by £6bn a year, as well as our £72,000 cap to protect people from crippling care costs.
Caring for our elderly shouldn’t be up for discussion, and that is why I am urging you to sign the petition to stop this ridiculous tax on families.
Being diagnosed with dementia is harrowing enough without the added worry of crippling care costs and children’s inheritance being siphoned off after parents pass away.
Mrs May has attempted to wriggle out of this policy today, but her true colours have been laid bare, the policy is in their manifesto, it’s what she wants to do.
Together we can stop the ‘Dementia Tax’ and put in place a cap on the cost of care.
